Complementary food baskets comprising a week’s supply of 50g to 300g of Chillie powder, gram, tamarind, soya, sprats, garlic, red chillies, onions, coconuts, turmeric powder and fenugreek have reached families that have returned to their homes in Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Vavuniya. Collaborating with the local government authorities, FORUT Sri Lanka initiated the distribution back in October 2009 entitling each family to receive appropriate quantities according to the number of family members.

Co-ordinating with 4U members, pre-school feeding programme volunteers and its local partners (CORE in Uduvil, Tellippalai Kayts, VOGT, COMTEC Chulipuram), FORUT’s Humanitarian Assistance team in Jaffna carried out the distribution across 15 DS divisions of the peninsula covering around 16,620 families :
